Safeguarding

This policy defines how Thame Barns Centre operates to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk of abuse whether physical, verbal, sexual, bullying, exclusion or neglect.

 

Persons affected

  • All trustees, volunteers, and staff
  • All those attending any activity or service that is being delivered from the centre property
  • All visitors and contractors

 

Thame Barns recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

Employees have a duty to safeguard vulnerable users of the Centre, the premises and those who may meet with vulnerable users.

Vulnerable users could include:

  • Children
  • Young people
  • Adults with learning difficulties or physical disability
  • Frail, elderly people
  • Carers

The Centre is committed to promoting wellbeing, harm prevention and to responding effectively if concerns are raised.

Thame Barns Centre will protect users in the following ways:

  • Request that hall users always supervise children and vulnerable adults.
  • Ensure that all hirers/users of the Centre are aware that any safeguarding of children or vulnerable adults is the responsibility of the hirers.
  • Copies of Safeguarding policies are obtained from regular hall users where applicable.
  • Complete risk assessments prior to Centre run events to ensure the safety of all users.
  • Will endeavour to keep the premises safe for use with regular maintenance
  • Hirers need to be aware that facilities such as the toilets might be shared with other groups.Bar staff follow the Licensing Act 2003 to ensure that alcohol is not sold to those under the age of 18
